Position Summary The Senior Editor-Translator translates into Spanish and English, and proofreads presentations, proposals, executive summaries, reports, letters, surveys, interview notes, annotations, memoranda, articles for publication, press releases and other client, marketing and internal documents written both in English and Spanish. Working hours: 10 to 19hrs.
Job Responsibilities Main Senior Editor working areas include, but are not limited to:
Translation ENG-ESP, ESP-ENG
English to Spanish and Spanish to English translation of Power Point presentations for client purposes, Word documents (letters, reports, surveys) and Excel files.
Works with minor help from production department
Outsources translations to our external vendor
Proofreading in English and Spanish
Identifies typographical errors and corrects spelling, punctuation and grammatical mistakes
Rewrites awkward phrases and questions areas that are unclear
Supports and backs up the Translation Coordinator
Provides translation and proofreading services to other members of the BST
Responds to inquiries from other BCG offices regarding English and Spanish language-related needs
Acquires practice areas’ know-how on trends and types of projects
Stays up-to-date about translation tools, suggests training opportunities, etc.
Shares best practices with other team members
Learns how to give consultants feedback, favoring constructive criticism and prioritizing improvement areas
Basic Job Requirements Specific qualifications include:
Degree in Translation and Interpreting
In-depth knowledge of English and Spanish languages: Spanish native and C2 level of English according to the EU CEFR
Deep knowledge of business/financial principles and technical terminology
Minimum 6 years’ experience in translating
Expertise in the use of CAT tools, ideally Deja Vù
Experience in service-oriented departments or professional service firms
Experienced team worker
Experience in international environments
Knowledge of other languages will be an advantage
Good typing skills
Working knowledge of MS Office programs
Attention to detail and accuracy
Fast learner of new concepts and business topics
Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
Adaptable to shifting priorities
Can work under pressure
Able to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and functional responsibilities
Capable of performing independently
Analytical and critical capacity, strong logic structure, common sense
Resourceful and responsive when in charge of an entire assignment
